Osteopath and Women's Health Specialist, MOst, GOsC 10856

Ellen Joyce

Ellen enjoys treating a wide variety of patients at Ebrook Osteopathy and Sports Clinic, joining the clinic fresh from her graduation with distinction from the world-renowned University College of Osteopathy. Ellen has worked with people from all walks of life, from grassroots sports people to people with disabilities like cerebral palsy or developmental delay. Ellen thrives in the wide scope of practice in the Ebrook clinics, and enjoys creating treatment plans to suit her patients best as individuals. Ellen has an advanced understanding of neurological injuries, and takes on patients with complex presentations, such as post-stroke or post-surgical rehabilitation.

In her spare time Ellen plays netball and Gaelic football for local team, Erin Go Bragh. No stranger to the world of sport, Ellen has taken a leading role in the clinic’s sponsorship of GB Athlete, gymnast Alice Kinsella. Ellen treated Alice in the run up to her Birmingham Commonwealth Games victory, where Alice secured Gold medals in the Women’s Team Artistic Final, and Gold in the individual floor final. Alice went on to compete in the European and World Championships in the Summer of 2022, achieving Silver medals at both.

Ellen has undertaken additional training to support her female patients with their Pelvic and Abdominal Health, providing support with specialised Women’s Health appointments and Mummy MOT treatment pathways. She is passionate about empowering women to take ownership of their health and return to sport after having children, or rehabilitating pelvic issues that would otherwise hold them back. Ellen understands that pelvic health has a far-reaching impact on women’s health, and addresses these issues with her patients with great empathy and understanding.

Ellen uses the clinic’s VALD testing equipment to solidify her patient’s understanding of their bodies, providing them with data to help them understand their progress and areas of improvement. Ellen can demonstrate asymmetries in a person’s strength or mobility, affirming their rehabilitation programs and tracking their progress across time.

Ellen also appreciates the therapeutic value of human touch and connection, which she uses in her post-partum work with mothers and babies. Ellen has established an at-home Baby Massage guide, which parents can download and use at home to help soothe their babies and promote positive and loving attachments. The program can be purchased by following this link.

Ellen has kindly donated her program free of charge to beneficiaries of the Birmingham-based post-partum depression charity, Acacia Family Support.
