OSTEOPATH, SPORTS OSTEOPATH AND PILATES TEACHER - GOSC 10564
Stephanie de Sousa-Bartlett
Stephanie is an Osteopath working at Ebrook Osteopathy and Sports Clinic. Stephanie has always had a natural affinity for movement, being classically trained as a dancer in ballet, tap and modern. Stephanie’s love of dance and sport brought her to study Osteopathy, where she obtained her degree with First Class Honours from Swansea University.
Since qualification, Stephanie has worked with many athletes, most notably the Veseyans RFC and GB Commonwealth, World Champion, and Olympic Gymnast Alice Kinsella. Stephanie supports Veseyans with pitch-side first aid and sports injury treatments, while her work with Alice Kinsella has focused on injury prevention and performance. These experiences give Stephanie a comprehensive understanding of what athletes need to endure to become leaders in their disciplines, and she transfers this knowledge into the treatment room for her patients at Ebrook.
Stephanie enjoys exercise in her own time outside of clinic, playing netball in a local Birmingham league, running and going to the gym for resistance training. Stephanie has gone on to train as a clinical Pilates teacher, which helps her to implement rehabilitation exercise programs for her patients in clinic. Stephanie teaches classes and workshops at the affiliated Ebrook Fitness Studio, where many of her patients find progress in their strength and mobility.
Stephanie has an additional area of interest in treating people with headaches and migraines, which led her to develop the online education and rehabilitation tool, Help for Headaches. This program was the first online patient tool to be developed from the team at Ebrook Osteopathy and Sports Clinic, and remains a valued tool to patients at the clinic.
Stephanie has developed an at-home patient resource to help people better manage headaches and migraines, called Help for Headaches. It’s full of helpful information, videos and guides to give people more autonomy over their pain and become more resilient to their headache symptoms. You can find more information and download Help for Headaches for yourself by following this link.
Stephanie works with young dancers and athletes to prevent injury and enhance performance, focusing her efforts on giving them valuable education tools which will help them as they progress through their career. For developed athletes, Stephanie helps to support their progress, and overcome barriers to better performance.
Stephanie teaches Pilates at the Ebrook Fitness studio, helping people get stronger and more mobile. Many people who attend class are patients of the clinic, and because of Stephanie’s clinical background, adaptations can easily be made for people who struggle with certain movements or exercises. Stephanie has done additional training in visceral Osteopathy, which allows her to help patients with digestive, circulatory, or post-surgical issues.
